IDEAL Project ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the “IDEAL Mobile App” mobile application ("App"), which is integrated and communicates with the IDEAL Platform, a Decidim-based participatory democracy framework.

The Data We Collect

Note: Verification data is often used only for a one-time check and not permanently stored in raw form, but you must confirm your specific system configuration here.

User Content: Any content you generate, including proposals, comments, debates, and images you upload.

Profile Information: Optional details you add to your profile, such as a biography, avatar photo, or website link.

Information Automatically Collected

Device Information: We may collect information about your mobile device, including IP address, operating system, and device type.

Usage Data: Logs of when you log in, which proposals you view, and navigation paths within the App.

How We Use Your Data

We use your data for the following purposes:

Democratic Participation: To allow you to create proposals, comment, and vote.

Verification: To ensure "one person, one vote" and prevent fraud in binding decision-making processes. 

Communication: To send you notifications about the processes you follow (you can opt-out of these).

Platform Security: To detect spam, abuse, and security breaches.

 Analytics: To understand how the community uses the App to improve the platform (using anonymized data where possible).

Public vs. Private Data

IDEAL Decidim Platform is a transparency-focused platform. It is critical that you understand the difference between public and private data in this App:

Public Data: Your User Content (proposals, comments) and your Public Profile (Name/Nickname, Avatar) are visible to the public. Do not share sensitive personal information in public comments.

Private Data: Your Email address, Password, and Verification Documents are kept private and are not visible to other users.

Voting Secrecy: Your specific votes on budgets or elections are encrypted; we can verify that you voted, but not what you voted for (depending on the specific voting module used).

Legal Basis for Processing (For GDPR Compliance)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your data based on:

Public Interest: For data processing required to facilitate democratic participation and public consultation tasks.

Consent: For optional cookies, newsletters, or specific profile data you voluntarily provide.

Legal Obligation: Where we are required by law to retain records of public decision-making.

Data Retention

Active Accounts: Retained indefinitely to maintain the history of public contributions.

Note on Erasure: Due to the public nature of democratic processes, your comments and proposals may be anonymized rather than deleted to preserve the integrity of the discussion history.

Right to Data Portability: Download your data in a machine-readable format (IDEAL Decidim Platform allows you to export your data from the Settings menu).
